XBOAT ref: 378.
I am selling my 1984 WAUQUIEZ HOOD 38 sailboat; it is the second version, the MK2.
It’s a sloop rig, built from thick polyester resin—it’s a very sturdy boat!
I’m the third owner; I’m selling it reluctantly due to health reasons, I’ve enjoyed sailing for 14 years in the waters of Brittany and Gascony, with annual trips to Spain, Scotland, Ireland, and Cornwall...
It’s very comfortable with its two cabins and a spacious living area in the saloon, whichIt can be converted into a double berth; it has forced-air heating, pressurized hot water, two toilets (one of which is equipped with a black water tank—never used), a full kitchen with a countertop, double sink, and a gas stove with an oven , a microwave oven, and a sound system with speakers inside and outside.
It is a sturdy, very comfortable boat. A total of 179 units were built between 1978 and 1989.
It’s not easy, in fact, to combine often contradictory qualities such as comfort and performance—and to add aesthetics to the mix.
The Hood 38 is beautiful. Ted Hood, its designer, succeeded in giving it elegance and class. After all, part of the pleasure of owning a boat is simply looking at it.
The Hood 38 is comfortable. Its interior space is perhapsIt is the largest of all boats of this type, and the teak—used liberally—gives the interior a refined, luxurious feel. It offers exceptional comfort for enjoyable cruises, sailing from cove to cove thanks to its retractable centerboard.
The Hood 38 is fast. Ted Hood is just like us: he loves boats that go! Thanks to his vast experience, the Hood 38 is a joy to helm. Comfortably seated behind the wheel, with 11.6 meters of deck stretching out before you, you can sail close-hauled with less than 300 apparent wind.On downwind legs, with the centerboard up, you’ll achieve astonishing average speeds.
